Using a Digital Signature in Shop Boss

Shop Boss was designed to help you move your shop to a paperless process.  One of the key components of a paperless process is the ability to have your customer electronically sign the repair order and save a copy of it.  To accomplish this, we have 3 ways for you to capture an electronic signature from your customer.

  1. You can sign up with our integrated credit card processor, 360 Payments.  Not only will you have integrated processing, but you can capture the customer signature from the CC terminal and put it on the Repair Order.  Then you can email to the customer or print it if they desire.  Your copy will automatically be saved
  2. You can use our Send Update feature.  Within an RO is a button on the left that says Send Update.  If you click this, you will send a link to the customer's email or cell phone.  When they click this link, they will be able to approve the work to be done and electronically sign the RO.  Again, when the customer signs in this manner, you will have a copy of it retained in your account.
  3. If the customer is with you, and you would like to use your own logged in device you can do so while inside a Repair Order.
  4. Just click Print, then Print again as pictured below

A series of buttons will appear on the bottom right of the screen.

Click on the E-Signature button and it will create a signature window for the customer to sign using your touch pad, or mouse.

 5. Finally, you can purchase a signature pad to use with Shop Boss. Any scriptel device that is connected via USB should work. You may have to download the scriptel drivers onto your device. The instructions should come with your device and walk you through the process step by step.
